Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can’t attend live?
No problem! Every session is recorded and uploaded within 24 hours. You’ll have 30 days of replay access to watch (and rewatch!) whenever it suits you.
Do I need to be an experienced painter to join?
Not at all.
These sessions are designed for beginners, returning painters, and intermediate artists who want guidance, structure, and inspiration. I demonstrate step-by-step and keep the lessons friendly and approachable.
What materials do I need?
I demonstrate in my preferred medium (oils or gouache). You can use whatever you’re most comfortable with.
What will we paint each week?
Each session features a fresh demonstration based on a single subject or concept — florals, still life, landscapes, colour studies, or simple studio setups. Every class stands alone, so you can join anytime.
How do the critiques work?
After the session, you can email me a photo of your finished painting.
I’ll send back a personalised critique with notes or a Procreate markup showing suggestions for improvement.
(With your permission, I may share one critique at the start of the next session as a teaching example.)
Will there be live critiques during class?
Not for this first four-week block — but it may be added later!
Right now, critiques are done privately by email so everyone can paint at their own pace without pressure.
How long is each class?
Each live session runs for 1.5 hours, giving us time for a relaxed demonstration, questions, and a brief learning recap.
Do I need my camera on?
No — cameras are totally optional.
You’re welcome to watch quietly, paint along, or just observe.
What if I fall behind or miss a week?
You won’t miss out.
Every session is recorded, and your 4-class pack is valid for 6 weeks, giving you extra flexibility if life gets busy.
Can I join from outside Australia?
Absolutely!
Artists regularly join me from the US, Europe, and Asia. The replay makes it easy to follow along no matter your timezone.
What if I have tech issues with Zoom?
Before each session, I include the full Zoom link and simple instructions. If something goes wrong, you can email me and you’ll still receive the recording and all session materials.
Is this a structured course or more like guided practice?
These sessions are guided studio practice with a weekly demo, not a rigid curriculum. It’s relaxed, flexible, and designed to help you build confidence and momentum.
