OIL + ACRYLIC FRIENDLY

"Simply wonderful!"

“Natasha’s classes should come with a warning: ‘these classes are the very best, personal, informative, fun but addictive’!”

"This is one of the best oil painting classes I have ever taken, and I’ve taken quite a few. You know it’s good, when everyone’s paintings came out so beautifully! I highly recommend this one." - Christina

“...I love that I can apply these principles in the future with my own flavour as I find my individual style."

"Natasha has an amazing ability to pull back the curtain on the basic underlying concepts and practices of oil painting, and make them accessible and fun for people of any experience level to play with.”

Fresh and Fabulous Florals

You’ve been walking around with the quiet urge to paint for too long…

⇨ Maybe it’s for the first time... or maybe life got busy and you haven’t touched a paintbrush in years…

⇨ Or maybe you’re SO scared of “doing it wrong” that you haven’t started at all... so you...

You move through your days caring for everyone else.

Your natural creativity gets pushed down so you can hold everything together.

Part of you keeps whispering to yourself…“What if I’m not any good?”

“What if I waste my time painting and prove I’m not an artist after all?”

“What if I’m too old to start painting now?”

Perfectionism becomes a quiet kind of self-sabotage but time keeps ticking…

You scroll past beautiful florals thinking, I wish I had painted that, and then talk yourself out of even trying.

Hi 👋 I’m Natasha, I quit my soulless corporate job and now have a fulfilling career as a painter doing what I love every day.

I wasn’t born with a paintbrush in my hand.

For years, I worked in an office, squeezing my creativity into the margins of a corporate job that looked successful on paper but didn’t fulfill me.

I would scroll past other people’s paintings late at night and think,

that looks incredible…

then immediately follow it with,

“I can’t do that”

By the time my kids were in bed and the work finished, I was exhausted. I told myself I was too busy to start again, too far behind everyone who seemed “naturally talented.”

Then life threw me a little surprise.

We moved overseas for my husband’s work and, for the first time, I didn’t have a job title to hide behind. Just a lot of quiet and a nagging sense that I had lost myself somewhere along the way.

I decided to join a local art class to make friends.

At first I was soooo scared to mess it up. But with time I realised that it wasn’t about painting a ‘perfect’ flower (or object) it was about the process of painting. Learning. Improving with each painting. To prove it here’s a photo of some of my very first paintings.

I did not become “a real artist” overnight.

What changed was this: painting gave me a way to be with myself again.

One small painting at a time. One imperfect floral at a time.

That is the kind of shift I want for you.

Painting isn’t about getting it right. It’s a learning experience and connection to your creativity.

When you learn a calm, step-by-step process, you can stop overthinking every brushstroke.

You’re not fighting the canvas anymore. You’re simply enjoying the process of painting.

Imagine a quiet hour that’s only YOURS. Brush in hand, music low, your mind relaxing, (maybe a cheeky wine??)

… the smell of paint mixing with the soft light of morning or late afternoon.

… colours flow more easily than you expected, so you can finally paint the roses in your garden or the bouquet on your kitchen table.

… a half-finished floral on your easel that makes you smile instead of judging.

… a moment where you feel present and not taking care of everyone else.

And once the hour is up, you show up to the rest of your life with more ease, more patience, more you.

Say hello to Fresh and Fabulous Florals - you’ll learn painting skills you’ll be able to apply to any subject - not only florals

A gentle, structured online course to help you paint loose, luminous florals with confidence.

Each lesson is short and focused, designed for aspiring artists and creative souls who crave creative freedom…

→ from simple studies to a full bouquet

→ from small panels to a statement floral

→ from basic painting concepts to clear and decisive colour and mark making

So you can paint more freely, trust your instincts, and finally finish pieces that feel like you.

“Hi, I’m Natasha Ruschka”

Australian oil painter, teacher, and exhibiting artist.

“I was working a highly stressful job when I was made redundant, and my husband accepted a position in Denver, Colorado. We packed up the family - three young kids - and moved. About six months later I signed up for an art class to make friends. The rest really was history.”

Natasha has guided hundreds of artists and creatives through workshops, private lessons, and online courses.

Her work has been shown at the Floriade Festival, the Affordable Art Fair, and Grainger Gallery, and recognised in national awards including the Lethbridge 20,000 and The Doyles.

But before all of that, she was where you might be now:
Micro-analysing every painting wondering if she’ll ever become a ‘good enough’ painter.

“With practice and passion it turned me not only into a full time artist but it also taught me to slow down, to notice light, to breathe again. That’s what I want for you.”

You don’t need talent. You need guidance, patience, and a safe space to paint (beginner or not).

By the end of Fresh and Fabulous Florals, you will:

  • Feel confident setting up and finishing a painting from start to finish.

  • Know how to mix clean, luminous colour without confusion or guesswork.

  • Paint with more looseness and clarity instead of tightening up in fear of mistakes.

  • Trust your instincts more, in art and in life.

  • Look at a vase of flowers and think, I can paint that.

Follow one bouquet from life to finished paintings, learning to see like an artist and paint like yourself

Lesson 1 – Materials

Set yourself up without overwhelm or overspending

  • Learn the essential materials for floral painting in oils (and how to adapt for acrylics)

  • Build a simple palette that can mix an incredible range of floral colours

  • Understand supports, brushes, solvents, and mediums so you feel safe and organised, not lost in the art store

This is where your workspace starts to feel like a small studio, not a chaotic craft pile.

P.S. This course is demonstrated in oils but acrylic paints work just as well.

Lesson 2 – Getting Started: Building your bouquet & composition

Learn to arrange and photograph flowers so your paintings almost compose themselves.

  • Learn how to identify the "hero" flower to build your bouquet around.

  • Identify the right colour story for your bouquet.

  • Learn composition and design skills that set your painting up from the first stroke.

  • Understand photography strategies to create a variety of different paintings from one bouquet.

You’ll start seeing bouquets differently. Less chaos. More structure, story, and light.

Lesson 3 – Values

Values are the backbone of your painting. This lesson trains your eye

  • Understand the value scale from dark to light, and why it matters more than colour

  • Practice seeing value in simple forms so your florals feel three-dimensional, not flat

  • Learn to “squint” and simplify a complex subject into a few clear tonal steps

  • Discover how good value structure instantly makes your work stronger, even with a limited palette

BONUS:
Includes downloadable resources:

  • Value Scale
  • Sunflower Study Reference Image
  • Colour Wheel

Once values click, everything else becomes easier. Colour has something solid to sit on.

Lesson 4 – Colour

This is where you learn to control colour and understand the difference between hue, saturation and temperature

  • Learn what hue, value, saturation, and temperature actually mean in practice

  • Mix bright, saturated petals and gentle, neutral supporting colours so nothing feels muddy

  • Explore warm and cool shifts that bring light into your flowers and atmosphere into your backgrounds

  • See how small adjustments in colour temperature can make a bloom feel sunlit, soft, or shadowed

BONUS
Includes downloadable resources:

  • Colour Wheel Template to create multiple colour ways

You’ll stop randomly adding paint and start mixing with intention.

Lesson 5 – Mark Making

Create your ‘signature’ painting style

  • Practice holding the brush in ways that encourage looseness, not stiffness

  • Learn to load your brush properly so a single stroke carries energy and pigment

  • Discover how to suggest your subject before “saying too much” and colour in.

  • Learn when not to correct, and how to let “happy accidents” contribute to freshness

BONUS
Includes downloadable resources:

  • Mark Making Reference Guide
  • Sunflower Mark Making Template
  • Flower Study Reference Image
  • Foliage Gum Leaves Study Reference Image
  • Snapdragons Flower Study Reference Image

This is where your paintings stop replicating photos and start feeling alive.

Lesson 6 – Flower & Foliage Studies

Start painting with small studies that reinforce the process and build confidence

  • Learn about the small but powerful practice of painting studies

  • A simplified alternative to a full canvas painting

  • A practice that reinforces skills before committing to a full bouquet.

  • A painting technique you can use to paint more than just flowers.

  • Explore your creativity inside a structured process.

BONUS:
Includes downloadable resources:

  • Flower Study Reference Guide
  • Gum Leave Reference Guide

These studies become your rehearsal space before the main performance.

Lesson 7 – Painting the Bouquet

Now you bring everything together in a detailed painting session.

  • Setting up a strong start without a detailed drawing

  • Breaking up the painting process across sections of a bigger painting

  • Layering colour for interest and drama

BONUS
Includes downloadable resources:

  • Painting the Bouquet Reference with Grid
  • Painting the Bouquet Reference Photo without Grid

You’ll finish with a medium-sized floral painting that you can be proud of, even if you’re still early in your journey.

Lesson 8 – Scaling Up: Statement florals BONUS

Take your process to a larger canvas with calm and clarity

  • Learn how to translate a successful smaller study into a big, expressive piece

  • Understand what to change (brush size, paint quantity, pacing) and what stays the same (the process)

  • Break a big painting into logical stages so you can work in shorter sessions without losing momentum

  • Experience the joy of seeing a large floral come together, knowing you built those skills step by step

Big canvases stop feeling intimidating and start feeling exciting

When you join Fresh and Fabulous Florals, you will get:

  • 8 core modules with clear, follow-along demonstrations, guides and downloadable PDFs of all my resources that you can reuse for future paintings (value $1650)

  • Concept videos on values, colour, composition and brushwork

  • High-quality reference photos of the bouquet and studies (value $200)

  • Materials guidance so you know exactly what you need (and what you don’t) (value $150)
  • Self-paced access so you can paint in the evenings, on weekends, or in quiet morning pockets

  • Access to all lessons and future updates while part of the program

  • Easy to follow on the mobile app so you can watch on-the-go, set up easily, and set up reminders to stay consistent

  • Downloadable guides, templates and cheat sheets to make your learning process extra smooth (value $550)

You can work in oils, with guidance throughout, and many students successfully adapt the process for acrylics.

Bonus: Access to Private Artistic Community (value $500)

You also receive access to a kind, like-minded community space.

Inside the group you can:

⇨ Ask questions about your paintings and process

⇨ Post your work for kind, constructive feedback

⇨ Connect with other painters and creatives who are also returning to their creativity

⇨ Share wins, troubleshoot blocks, and stay accountable without noise, shame, or comparison

“Learned so much about mixing colours and composing my subjects.”

“[I learned about] the importance of putting all my colours and tones on the palette before just starting to paint willy nilly. A truly comprehensive and insightful course. Despite years of painting experience, I discovered many new and practical tips. Natasha has a wonderfully eloquent way of simplifying even complex concepts.” - Rebecca, Brisbane AUS

“My first ever art workshop was the July 2022 Landscape workshop. My favourite takeaways, still used each time I paint: Simplify; Trust the process; know what you’re looking for; Notice what you feel; What are you painting; Why are you painting this; Thumbnails and notes; Identify the light; Big shapes; Values; Atmosphere perspective; Mark making.
I have loved every workshop and online class. For me, it’s important to regularly revisit the basics. Plus - info on new technologies/apps, recommended books. Natasha’s classes should come with a warning: ‘these classes are the very best, personal, informative, fun but addictive!”

Who Fresh and Fabulous Florals is for (and not for)

This course is for you if:

  • You’re an existing painter/artist, beginner or returning painter who wants clear, gentle guidance

  • You love colours and want to paint in a loose, expressive style

  • You’re tired of feeling stuck in “I’m not talented enough” wheel

  • You want a calm, structured path you can follow to improve your painting skills

  • You’re ready to to feel alive and creative again

It’s not a fit if:

  • You want hyper-realistic, photo-perfect florals

  • You’re looking for a quick “hack” instead of a practice

  • You’re looking for a paint-by-numbers type of painting class

I’m a true beginner. Will I keep up?

Yes. Many students started as complete beginners. The lessons are broken into small, clear steps, and you’re encouraged to pause, rewind, and repeat as needed. You’re not expected to “keep up” with anyone else. This is your pace, your journey.

What if I don’t have much time?

The course is designed for busy lives. Most lessons can be watched in under an hour, and you can break the painting stages into smaller chunks. Even one focused hour a week can move you forward. You have access to the course for 18 months (with the option to extend), so there’s plenty of time to complete the course.

Do I need talent?

No. Natasha doesn’t believe in talent as a requirement. She believes in practice, process, and patience. You’ll be guided to focus on simple, repeatable steps, so skill grows naturally over time.

Is this for oils or acrylics?

The demonstrations are in oils, with guidance around mediums, drying times, and best practices. Many principles translate beautifully to acrylics, and you can adapt the palette and process if you prefer to work that way.

What exactly will I paint?

You’ll paint:

  • Individual flower and foliage studies

  • A smaller sunflower study for brushwork practice

  • A medium-sized floral bouquet painting from start to finish

  • A scaled-up statement floral (if you choose to take that final step)

You can follow along with Natasha’s reference bouquet or adapt the process to your own flowers.

Will I get feedback?

Yes. Inside the Private Artistic Community group you can share your work, ask questions, and receive kind, constructive feedback from Natasha and the community.

How long do I have access?

Your enrolment includes 18 months of full course access. If you need extra time, you may request a one-time 3-month complimentary extension, which can be activated within the final 30 days of your initial access period. After this, you can renew access for 12 months for AUD $29 at any time (no need to repurchase the course).

What if I need more time?

You’ll have 18 months of access to complete the course. If you’re nearing the end of your access period and need a little longer, you can request a free 3-month extension within the last 30 days of your access window. Beyond that, you’re welcome to renew access for 12 months for AUD $29 whenever you need it.

What materials do I need?

Inside Lesson 1 you’ll find a detailed materials list and explanations of each item. Natasha works with a simple, versatile palette and approachable surfaces, so you don’t need to buy everything at once or invest in the most expensive brands.

I’ve tried courses before and didn’t finish. Why is this different?

Fresh and Fabulous Florals is structured as a gentle progression: foundations, studies, bouquet, then scaling up. Each lesson has a clear purpose, and you can feel a sense of completion at each stage. The community support also helps you stay connected, even if your pace is slow.

My colours always go muddy. Will this help?

Yes. Colour clarity is a core focus. You’ll learn why colours go muddy, how to mix clean, bright hues, and when to intentionally neutralise them for harmony. You’ll also work with values first, which naturally improves your colour decisions.

What is the refund policy?

Because you receive immediate access to the full course upon purchase, all sales are final and non-refundable. Please consider this before enrolling and reach out with any questions if you’re unsure.

I’m nervous about sharing my work.

That’s completely normal. You’re always in control of how much you share. The community is moderated and built around kindness and encouragement, not harsh critique. Quiet participation is welcome. You can simply observe at first, then post when you feel ready.

What are the tech requirements?

You’ll need a stable internet connection and a device (computer or tablet/phone) that can stream video. The course is hosted online, and the Private Artistic Community is hosted on Facebook is optional but recommended for connection and support.

When you join Fresh and Fabulous Florals, you receive:

  • A gentle, structured way to return to painting through florals

  • Clear steps for loose brushwork, clean colour, and confident finishes

  • Bite-sized lessons you can fit into real life, with lifetime access

  • A proven method that doesn’t rely on talent, just practice and presence

  • A full bouquet from start to finish, plus guidance to scale up to a statement piece

  • Access to our Private Artistic Community for questions, feedback, and quiet accountability

If you’re ready for painting to be your pause, your stillness, your return to yourself:

“[I learned about] the importance of putting all my colours and tones on the palette before just starting to paint willy nilly. A truly comprehensive and insightful course. Despite years of painting experience, I discovered many new and practical tips. Natasha has a wonderfully eloquent way of simplifying even complex concepts.” - Rebecca, Brisbane AUS

“Natasha’s calm and practical approach to painting made me feel at ease after YEARS of not touching a paintbrush but constantly looking at other artists (and my old artwork) with some envy. I could finally reconnect with my creativity and felt like a whole new person after allowing myself an hour a week to just enjoy and ‘be myself’. Thank you Natasha for sparking my artistic side. Even my 3 year old daughter loves getting involved.” - Evelina, Melbourne AUS
